Penny's Broken Star

This quilt was a change of pace for Penny who usually chooses bright, bold fabrics. She created this for her neice who is graduating and wanted something special. I used Sew Fine throughout--I so love that thread!! Penny was thrilled!!

Eve's Asian Quilt

This beauty was an interesting challenge. I tried to keep an Asian flair with the quilting, and not over-quilt it--I worked to make the quilt itself shine. There were several thread changes, keeping with Sew Fine throughout. Eve cried when she saw it...it was more than she anticipated. Talk about a confirmation of choosing well for the quilt...

Aunt Eileen's Windmill

A couple of years ago, my Aunt Eileen picked up a slew of antique windmill blocks at a sewing/quilting event in Washington State. She removed the occcasional corner fabric pieces which were discolored and impossible to match. Then, Eileen finished the blocks with the same fabric she used to create sashing, added borders and asked me to quilt this for her. I used Sew Fine thread and worked to show off this pretty quilt without calling attention to the imperfect piecing of the original quilter.

Martha's Enchanted

Martha chose to create Enchanted in winter holiday fabrics. Amazing how such a minor change can make a big difference in the final product.

Eve's Enchanted

This pretty quilt was a bit of a challenge as the fussy cut blocks didn't speak to me at first...at last I did a small stippling design in the background. Eve is so detailed; her piecing is spot on!!

Irish eyes are smiling

Karen M. created this pretty batik Irish Chain quilt. She requested diagonal lines and a simple motif in the blocks and borders. I used Sew Fine thread throughout.

Ursula's Christmas Togs

Ursula's great grandmother Darlene couldn't resist this Christmas outfit and it looks adorable on her! Ursula had fun with all the fur critters that reside here, especially our Schipperke Cozmo--whom Ursula called "Costco". He was the perfect size for her!

Heather and Ursula

Daughter Heather and granddaughter Ursula left today to go home to Little Rock. They were here for a week and we just chilled while they were here. In fact, Heather requested snow, and New Mexico obliged...as the photos attest! We had a grand time!!

Aunt Eileen's Antique Quilt

My Aunt Eileen picked up the antique squares in this quilt at Innovations a couple of years ago. The corners were done on a few of the blocks with printed fabric and Aunt Eileen opted to remove all of the corners and created sashing that incorporated the borders. This is a graduation gift for one of her granddaughters. The original quilter created rather wonky blocks that seem to look absolutely lovely in their new setting. I used Permacore thread on top and Sew Fine in the bobbin on the white and printed fabrics, and Sew Fine in top and bobbin in the purple/blue sashing.

Cathy A's Coventry Quilt

Cathy made this special quilt for her daughter and it was fun to add a floral background for this pretty quilt and help those star blocks "pop". I used Sew Fine thread throughout.

Martha K's Lone Star - 2

And here are the rest of the photos!

Martha K's Lone Star Quilt

It's both scary and exciting when a customer gives me free rein to do "whatever" I think is best. This was a unique Lone Star wherein the points of the star are not pieced but almost have the look of a "stack-n-whack" where the design repeats in a circular pattern. I used Madeira gold thread to echo the flower motifs inside the star, and used Sew Fine on the rest.

T-Shirt dresses

The orange dress is for Isabelle and the green dress is for Ursula. They are both in a 2T and I removed the bottom of each T-shirt and added a skirt...then appliqued a design from the fabric to the front of the T-shirt. I mailed these off to our granddaughters and hope that they like them (oh, and that they fit, too)!

Margaret B's quilt

Margaret maade this for her daughter...I love how striking this is with her fabric choices. I used a pantograph all-over design for texture, using Sew Fine thread.

Martha's batiks

Martha asked for an all-over design and I chose to freehand gingko leaves, picking up the pattern in the white on white fabric.

Laura B's quilt

This is such a pretty quilt--I love the colors and the design. I tried to go with the flow and let the quilting enhance her design. What do you think?
